Here goes......
I'll start with the summer of October of 1871 it was a hot balmy evening when a fire broke out in a barn behind the home of the O'Learys.Until this day no one knows how the fire got started,but its been "Rumored" that the cow of the O'Learys had started the fire. A cow started the" Great Chicago Fire" come on now if you believe that then you believe ..wait a minute its been doucumented so it must be the truth.more like a fable than the truth(to me) .Thats one"Rumor" or "Truth" that's noted in in our history books.
I'm a go back a little further in 1770 there was a huge presence of british soldiers in the Botson colonial they were there in response to attacks on the the british customs to enforce the Townshend Act. People of the boston colony were treat harsh by the british soldiers.The soldiers were not welcomed with open arms by the colony to make a long story short.Rumors were fueled that a british soldier had hit a local merchant("Buyer"and or "Seller")at a Customs house(where "imports" and "Goods" were sold).People began arriving at the Custom House,and started taunting the soldiers and pelting them with rocks.
The british reinforcement arived to control the situation but the crow begin taunting the soilders,and throwing rocks at them. A rock hit one of the soldiers some one yelled "fire" (A Lie or Rumored to have been said) and thats when a few British soldiers begun firing into the crowd of people. After the incident a few layed dead and some were wounded . Amongest the dead ,and the wounded was a african american sailor name Crispus Attucks he was part of whats known today as the Boston Massarce.
Whew! I said make a long story short but I wanted to get the gist of what a "Lie" or a "Rumor" can do..
Lets move ahead a bit....
The year was 1955 (A year after my mother was born) an African American boy was killed because it was "Rumored" that he had whislted at a caucasian women.Emmett Till was visiting relatives in the south ,and was snatch from there home. The body of Emmet Till was found in a river with his eyes gouged out a bullet wound to his head ,and fan tied around his neck with wires. I will never forget how some of my family members told me about this..and I also learned it from reading it in the history books.
Onward to the next "Lies,Rumors,Gossip" .....
I would have say the next incident would be "JonesTown massacre" .....Jim Jones was an ordain preacher who had many folowers.His popularity began to rise in the mid 70's with his two churches ,and his generous donation to charites ,and political figures.He could turn out Thousands of people to events,charites,and social functions.The Press began reporting what was going on in his churches,and it was not good good publicty.In response Jones Moved his followers to Guyana.The "Lie" he thought he was reincarnation of Jesus christ.The tragedy of the "JonesTown Massacre" is that people believe in Jim jones so much that they took there own lifes.
Lets fast foreward to present day......
With "Gossip" magazines that started the lead way on celebrities reporting people were consume with their every movement.In todays technology its made even simpler with cyber bullying,camera phones(Unnaware of picture taking),the internet,and some social sites.Oh! I must not forget video taking( which can be digital inhance).Now all magazine that talk about celebrites is not bad nor; the internet or social sites. But,What if your not a celebritiy,Does Lies,Rumors,Gossip make it more prominent for an individual to take.... I think not.Its easier now for people to believe Lies,Rumors,gossip than the "Truth". For instants with postings Of Lies,Rumors, or even picturesof an individual (whether your teen or adult) on the internet the"Gossip" spreads like wild fires ,amongest millions of people who will believe them rather than the "truth".So what does person do when the lies,rumors,gossip are not true.Walk with your head held high because( I know easier said than done) even though you feel alone,and feel no one will under stand.He's(god) listening, to your every thought and word of displeasure,and he's on your side no matter what. Fret not the Lies,rumors,gossip whether on the internet,social sites, amongest friends or rank strangers doesn't define who you are Just believe in your self as being truly appreciated individual.
So in essence how do I feel about Lies,Rumors,Gossip.......
Simple Put thats what they are just that lies,Rumors,Gossip it doesn't make the induvidual.If ask the "truth" is not far behind.....
First off I can go on,and on about this,but some of the things I talk about is strictly my opinion...
Also Some of the events I speak of are pull from history books,and magazines....
